Tell Congress: Condemn Israel’s military invasion of Jenin

(JVP Action) In the early hours of July 3, over 1,000 Israeli ground forces invaded the densely populated Palestinian city of Jenin, including the crowded Jenin refugee camp. In the days that followed, the military killed at least 12 Palestinians, including 5 teenagers, and damaged 80% of Palestinian homes in the area. They attacked Jenin hospital, prevented ambulances from reaching the injured people, damaged the infrastructure and interrupted Jenin’s water and electricity supplies, ripped up roads, and attacked journalists.

Palestinian lives, families, and communities are being destroyed because of the unwillingness of U.S. politicians to find their courage and morality. No more.

Write to your member of Congress now and demand they condemn the Israeli government’s invasion of Jenin and take steps to end U.S. complicity in Israeli apartheid.

NJP/I stands in support of the 6 Palestinian Human Rights Organizations

We share this information from the Stated Clerk of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church USA:

(The following is an excerpt from “J. Herbert Nelson urges Biden administration to reject ‘terrorist’ designation” November 4, 2021.) Read entire article here.

On Oct. 19, 2021, the Israeli Defense Ministry issued a military order declaring six Palestinian civil society organizations in the Occupied Palestinian Territory as “terrorist organizations.”

The organizations being targeted are historic, internationally respected Palestinian human rights groups that have, for decades, worked to defend the rights of the Palestinian people across society, including children, women, prisoners, and farmers. The designation of these organizations as “terrorist” now allows the Israeli government to close their offices, seize their assets and arrest their staff members. Aimed at censoring human rights groups documenting Israeli violations, the move has been called the beginning of a new era of impunity by the founder of Al-Haq, one of the six targeted groups.

The six groups are:

Addameer (Arabic for “conscience”) Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association — a Palestinian non-governmental, civil institution that works to support Palestinian political prisoners held in Israeli and Palestinian prisons.

Al-Haq — an independent Palestinian non-governmental human rights organization based in Ramallah. Established in 1979 to protect and promote human rights and the rule of law in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, the organization has special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council. “Haq” is Arabic for “truth” and “rights” and is also one of the words for God.

Defense for Children International – Palestine (DCIP) — an independent, local Palestinian child rights organization dedicated to defending and promoting the rights of children living in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip. The DCIP office was also raided earlier in the year and their computers were seized.

Union of Agricultural Work Committees — a progressive civil society organization contributing to the agricultural sector’s development, through empowering farmers within a sustainable community-based liberational development framework.

Bisan Center for Research and Development — a civil society organization that aligns itself with the poor and marginalized in their struggles to achieve their socio-economic rights in the context of national and democratic liberation in Palestine. Bisan works with youth organizations, feminist institutions, and community-based organizations in marginalized and rural areas from all over Palestine to support their struggle in advancing their socio-economic rights.

Union of Palestinian Women Committees  a feminist, progressive, and civil grassroots organization that strives to build a progressive, democratic and civil Palestinian society free from all forms of discrimination, aiming to achieve justice for all.
